Not much is known about what was probably a detachment, rather than the entire squadron visiting Malta. The Hunter Mk. 4s stayed at Ta’ Qali between December 1956 and April 1957, possibly on air defence duties over Malta until the Suez Canal crisis was over.
The squadron eventually disbanded on 1 November 1957.
