601 (County of London) 14.06.52 28.06.52 DH Vampire F.3 VT793/G Based at North Weald. Aircraft identified from a photograph. 511 squadron Hastings flew squadron material to/from Luqa on the 13th and the 27th.
601 13.06.53 27.06.53 Gl. Meteor F.8   Based at North Weald. Squadron had now converted to the Meteor.

608 30.08.52 14.09.52 DH Vampire F.3/FB.5   Based at Thornaby. Squadron material returned to the UK by Hastings of 511 squadron between 13/14th.

According to the squadron’s ORB, Two Meteor Mk.7s and four pilots were at Ta Qali, “at the beginning of August” awaiting the arrival of the squadron on the 4th. The two Mk.7s departed “at the end of the first week”. Summer camp was meant to have been held between 04-19 August.

612 (County of Aberdeen) 12.07.52 26.07.52 DH Vampire FB.5   Based at Edzell. Squadron assisted by Hastings of 511 Squadron.
613 (City of Manchester) 26.07.52 10.08.52 DH Vampire FB.5 Two aircraft known to have been coded ‘E’ and ‘F’. Based at Ringway. The squadron departed for RAF North Weald on the 25th. One aircraft arrived on the 29th having been stranded at Istres with technical problems.

Apart from participating in air-to-air gunnery, the squadron also had a role in the annual Air Defence exercise of Malta (DMX).

Return to the UK assisted by Hastings of 511 squadron.
615 (County of Surrey) 15.05.54 29.05.54 Gl. Meteor F.8   Based at Biggin Hill. This was 615’s only visit, as its planned 1956 trip was cancelled, as a result of the impending Suez Canal crisis.
616 (South Yorkshire) 27.06.53 11.07.53 Gl. Meteor F.8 WE862 Based at Finningley. This was 616’s only visit, as its planned 1956 trip was cancelled, as a result of the impending Suez Canal crisis. One aircraft, WE862, crashed in the sea on 3rd July.
