Air Force & Navy Reserve Squadrons Summer Camps

On these pages, you’ll find (sparse) information on Royal Auxiliary AF and RN Volunteer Reserve squadrons which came to Malta for two-week summer camps, to conduct exercises.

The equivalent of the US Air National Guard, these squadrons were manned by volunteers who were willing to sacrifice week-ends and public holidays as required.

These camps ran from 1950-56 for the RNVR, and 1952-56 for the RAuxAF, although some of the Auxiliary AF squadrons had their camps cancelled in 1956, as a result of the impending Suez Canal crisis.

Reserve squadrons were all cancelled in 1957, the result of defence cuts.

The following are links to each page.
