DATE AIRCRAFT SQDN SERIAL NOTES
23.09.21 L. F-16 Belgian AF FA-86 c/s BAF212. Aircraft suffered a hydraulic failure during the run and break. Came to a halt and occupied taxi-way Echo, until it was towed away later. Eventually departed on 11.10.21
23.09.21 L. F-16 Belgian AF FA-101 Aircraft got airborne for a practice rehearsal, but had to return with technical problems. Eventually departed on 14.10.21. C-130 CH-12 had arrived on the 13th, also departing on the 14th.
06.02.22 D. Rafale French Navy 41 Pilot diverted from the carrier Charles de Gaulle at around 19:30, due to re-fuelling probe incident. NH-90 helicopter, serial number 24, brough parts. Both aircraft departed shortly after midnight.
06.09.22 Israeli Aircraft Industries Heron UAV Armed Forces of Malta AS2132 Aircraft caused the closure of runway 23 for some time for unknown reasons.
17.10.22 Beechcraft B200 King Air Air Wing AS1126 Aircraft made an emergency, but uneventful, landing at Luqa airport following port engine trouble during a patrol.
08.02.23 Casa 295 Philippines AF 217 Aircraft had arrived the previous day, c/s AED917. The Aircraft also carried the Philippines flag on the fin and a badge with the lettering “Pilipinas Hukbong Himpapawid” and the serial number. It also carried the badge of the 220 Airlift Wing. Departure cancelled due to technical problems.
25.03.23 Dassault Falcon 50 French Navy FZMWT/34 Aircraft arrived from France, and was taxying out for departure, when it returned to its stand for unknown reasons. Departed on the 27th.
12.10.23 IAI Heron UAV Armed Forces of Malta AS2132 Drone made an emergency landing, probably as a result of engine problems. As a result, a number of civilian flights had to diverted to Sicilian airports. (See under Civilian Accidents page.
07.03.24 SA Alouette Air Squadron AS9212 Crew were forced to make an emergency landing in a field, outside the airfield.
29.04.24 L. C-130 Kuwait AF KAF328 Aircraft had arrived the previous day, and was meant to depart on this day, but developed unknown technical problems. Towed into Safi, eventually departing on 2nd May. A C-17, serial KAF343, also arrived, night-stopping at Safi between 1st-2nd May.
28.07.24 SA 316B Alouette III Air Squadron AS9211 Helicopter was hovering prior to departing from Park 7. For unknown technical reasons, control was lost, causing the helicopter to fall to the ground, damaging the main rotos in the process.
02.10.24 BAe Typhoon FGR.4 12 ZK314 All aircraft had arrived the previous day, 1st October. Departure on this day was cancelled and delayed by 24-hours, possibly as a result of airspace closures following the Iranian firing of missiles at Israel the previous day. They left on the 3rd.

All six aircraft carried the UK and Omani flags below the squadron’s well known fox head’s badge. Accompanied by two tankers.

02.10.24 A. Voyager KC.3 ZZ333 c/n 1312, c/s RRR9110. Provided air-to-air re-fueling for the Typhoons.
