These Moths were initially handed over at Stag Lane 03.11.31 and then packed for shipment by sea to the Egyptian Flying Corps. However, the Egyptian Government noted that the Iraqi Air Force had delivered their Moths (c/n 1675/1679) in formation by air, so it was decreed that the Egyptians should do likewise. Accordingly, the Moths were unloaded en route at Gibraltar and shipped back to Stag Lane where they were erected.
They eventually departed by air on 23.05.32, staging through Malta; arriving in Egypt 02.06.32. Air Cdr AG Board, Director of Egyptian Aviation, who took the original decision on shipment, resigned his post as a consequence.

Aircraft on delivery to New Zealand Air Force. Aircraft history: DH Mosquito NZ2382 The aircraft was built by Standard Motors of Coventry as an FB.VI for the RAF. Serialled HR339, the aircraft is a combat veteran, having served with 487 (New Zealand) SQN at Thorney Island and later with 16 SQN. Sold to the RNZAF, it left RAF Pershore on October 16, 1947 flown by F/L F.J Adams and F/O M.J. Fry. Delayed at Luqa, Malta while an unserviceable engine was replaced, it did not reach Ohakea until March 24, 1948 (flown by F/L Bailey RAF and W/O R.M. Cattermole). A taxying accident (due to ground subsidence) while on the way to Taieri for storage saw the aircraft grounded at Wigram. Sold by Government Stores Board tender No.4980 in May 1953, it was recovered from a farm at Pigeon Bay, Banks Peninsula by the Ferrymead Aeronautical Society. c/s FKDD. Aircraft was being flown by No. 1 Ferry Unit, but to where is unknown, although a brief paragraph in The Times of Malta of the 22nd stated the aircraft was “in transit to the East”. Arrival date, that same day, or the previous day, also unknown. Swung on take-off and undercarriage collapsed at RAF Luqa. Aircraft completely burnt out in the ensuing fire, no injuries. |

In 1953 twelve de Havilland Vampire FB.52s fighter-bombers and six Vampire T.55 trainers were ordered by Iraq from Britain, these going to N° 5 Squadron at Rashid.
A second jet-fighter squadron was formed in 1955, while in 1956 three each of Vampire FB.52s and T.55s were purchased to augment N° 5 Squadron's strength.
